I'm in the process of building a functioning potato gun that looks like a cannon for my haunt this year. Yes, I'm going to shoot baby powder wrapped in tissue paper on the big night but thought it would be cool to have for fun the other 364 days of the year. I was wondering if anyone here who has a made a cannon functioning or non functioning has put together a ramrod to go with the cannon. I was thinking maybe something like part of a pool noodle on the end of a dowel or PVC pipe. Maybe have the noodle wrapped in some sort of fabric? I was wondering if any of you had pictures as well.

It all depends on guage, barrel length and firmness of projectile.

For potatos, I just used a broom handle.

For talc/tissue bombs, a fabric covered soft plunger of some sort (noodle?) slightly smaller than the bore would work.

Once you've made your plunger, place a crosspiece dowel at a point where it will be stopped by the end of the barrel when the projectile is in the proper position. This will keep you from accidentaly pushing the projectile into the chamber.

If you have a problem with the talc/tissue bombs not holding proper shape, you might consider utilizing part of a styrofoam cup for the base.

Just don't point it at anybody.
Last night you were, unhinged. You were like some desperate, howling demon. You frightened me.
    ...Do it again.

Civilization is hideously fragile, there's not much between us and the horrors underneath, just about a coat of varnish.
