We thought our garage door opener died so we put in a new one yesterday. Come to find out it was the spring on the door that was broken. So now I have an extra opener, I was thinking I could rig Bucky up to it somehow. Any ideas? Has anyone used an old opener to move props?

That is a cool idea, and could probably be done if the creature isn't too heavy and if you can figure out a way to attach a rod to the trolley.

Totally great having one of those around. I sketched some ideas out for what you could use it for and they all seemed to actually revolve around torture. Perhaps, it's the eerie sound and industrial look to them. One design was an industrial update to "the rack" while the other was to mount the motor vertically, cover the chain with a tentacle and attach a hangman's kicker at the other end. I might just have to do the latter for our pirate theme this year!
