Check out cowlacious.com they have a simple recording board and a playing board, all you do is take the chip out of the recording board and transfer it to the playing or audio board. Very reasonable and just add a set of cheap powered computer speakers.

Thanks for the help so far guys! I actually tried using the radio shack 20 sec digital recorder but it is a pain in the butt to try and get a good, clear sound out of it. I dont have any experience with Prop controllers or Prop Timers and it looks like most of the stuff I look at involves using them. Guess I need to start studying up.

I lucked out and found cheap MP3 players that I could open up, solder a wire to each side of the 'Play' button contact, and just touch the wires together briefly for the audio to play. With just one audio file on the MP3 player, it would play every time the wires were touched together (assuming the file played all the way thru before triggerings.) The wires can be hooked to whatever trigger assembly you want to use, switch, pushbuton, pressure mat, etc.

I use computer speakers to amplify and play the sound.

Since I was able to get the MP3 players for $9 each, and the computer speakers for $3 each, I only spent ~$12 per prop.

Check the thread I posted above to find the model number of the MP3 player I used....not all MP3 players will automatically replay like the ones I used.

    Good luck.

my set up was similar to Abunia's except that I used portable CD players. I found the sound effects I wanted then burned them to a disc, set the CD player for 'repeat' and plugged it into some PC speakers. I had 4 rooms set up like that last yr and they all worked perfectly all night.
