Looks cool, But pricey.
I am doing a Egyptian theme this year as well, but I am not sure I am going to get the sarcophagus built.- Brad

My wife made a paper-mache Anubius head and we have done a duct tape dummy for his body.
I have been working on a paper-mache shivering mummy, that is very close to completion.
I bought a pair of medium size sphinxes, Egyptian lights and a small pyramid off of craigs list.
Also I plan on doing a large sphinx (2 stories tall) as the entrance with blucky mummies rolling over inside the legs of the sphinx.
Also bought a large cobra that is pneumatic off of craigs list - he is going behind a curtain, to jump out at people.
I am starting to think this may be to ambitious with a one year old in the house.- Brad

I'll tell you what. This is a theme that's always been on my list, so... good stuff so far.
But that sarcophagus could be done fairly cheap (though the link pumpkin princess posted looks like a pretty good deal to me). With a careful paint job and some time on your hands, you can make anything.
And as far as this theme goes, if you are going for 'ancient' Egypt where everything looks old, dusty, and well... ancient, then perfection isn't needed. I'd make the sarcophagus a home project.

Hi all,
I'm kinda doing an egyptian theme this year but mine also includes British 1800s victorian as the settting. I've made a few "artifacts". I need to get started on corpsing a bucky and then mummify him with old sheets(stained and ripped). I made some pyramid shaped luminaries that are pretty big, almost 3 feet using wooden garden tomato sticks and rice paper and plan on setting those out in the party room area. Because mine is set in 1842 England, I'm decorating the home to be victorian but Egyptian artifacts are going to be up for auction. I got a library book that had egyptian art/hyroglifics that I scanned and put on transfer paper. A friend was taking out those foam ceiling tiles in his basement and after cutting the edges a bit and transfering the designs they look pretty close to egyptian reliefs. They were naturally yellowed so it worked out perfectly. I'm super enjoying this theme. Might have to stick with this next year too!
