I am right in the middle of building a pneumatic coffin prop and something very unfortunate happed. My son's cat had kittens 8 weeks ago. My son actually birthed these kittens and has worshiped them ever since.
A couple of days ago, he took them outside to play in the back yard. One of the kittens squeezed through the gate and got out into the front yard. My neighbor across the street has a schnauzer (a natural rat hunter) who also happened to be loose from his back yard. I don't need to go into detail here, but the vet said the poor kitten had too many internal injuries and a broken pelvis from the attack.
My son asked me to build a coffin for his fallen friend, and he said he wanted it to be "cool". The kittens name was Caine, and this is the result.
We had wood in the garage, and the only tool I had to work with was a Skill saw and some hand tools.
He said he wanted a cool coffin, and mentioned a "flame job". I have never attempted a flame job before, but I did my best to accommodate his wishes. Up to this point, I had only used my airbrush to paint fishing lures.
I lined the inside with white fabric and pillow fluff. I didn't have any upholstery tacks, so I had to use staples.
We had a funeral service for Cain and sent him off to the scratching post in the sky, as my son called it. REST IN PEACE, CAINE.

Sorry to here
,I've been a cat person, had 2 that lived with me on my boat,24 years & 18 years. The 18 year one past last year 3 days before halloween, was hard to concentrate on my halloween props i was doing for an elemenrty school haunted house. Your flame job looks great for a 1st timer (i do automotive airbrush stuff),Caine would have liked it....... you did a very nice job for his custom casket.
When you look in the mirror at midnight,....what looks back at you.........

I agree your son is so very lucky in today's world, to have a Dad so understanding and loving as you.
Great work on the project and sorry for your loss.
We see a lot of un-fortunate things my lady and I, so I do understand and feel for your family.

Rook, that casket is better than I've seen some people have.
Great job!
And sorry to hear about your loss. I'm a cat person, and I know the pain of losing one.

His amiable amber eyes
Are very friendly, very wise;
Like Buddha, grave and fat,
He sits, regardless of applause,
And thinking, as he kneads his paws,
What fun to be a cat!

Great job I could see my kids requesting something like this if one of our cats passed.
Hell we had a cardboard toe pincher when our pleco died complete with fake flowers the kids got from the buck store,
Sorry for your loss and its great to see parenting being done right in this day and age
