Alright..so i know that there are probably thousands of fog chiller plans out there. I want to make a fog chiller, but I don't know which one I should pick. I have done a search for how-to's, and found about 20 plans that look like they would work. If anybody has plans or a website with a good fog chiller that you have tried, and know works good, can you please post them? Thanks in advance.

My fog chiller consists of an 8ft long 3" PVC pipe filled with ice. Prop up the fog machine on one ends and it spits out the other. Easily disassembles. Total cost: $4. (Ice + PVC)

My husband made one last year that worked really well. He played on the garbage can/cooler plans. Not counting the bottled water, we've got about $11 in it. We decided to go with the frozen bottles instead of ice so we didn't end up with a mess at the end of the night.

Now the water bottles are a GREAT idea ... I like that a lot!

Yeah, they worked great. I can't take credit for it, though. It came from someone else on this forum (can't remember who...sorry).

Half the fun is experimenting and prototyping!
Actually, anything that gives you a lot of contact area and contact time between the ice and fog will work. The size (output) of your fogger matters somewhat too. A 1500W fogger will require greater cooling capacity then a 400W fogger. What fogger do you plan on using?

Last year we made one at the last minute with nothing more than a 12 foot aluminum dyer hose turned in 3 places like a question mark, running on the upward slop of my yard. The effect was great low laying and wide spreading. (I should also say it was not damp; but, just a little cool, unless you were wearing a full covering costume.. I'm melting..) the FOG would flow down my yard and to the a retaining wall at my neighbor's house and then over and around it into his driveway and garage about 2-3 feet deep at times. With his fogger running too. The TOTs had to walk through it as they walked my circular driveway., and around his wall and to his door together we had a lot of fun ducking down in and out of it from time to time.
**If you have a copy or can rent it the remake of "THE FOG" has an interview with the effects team that did all the real time atmospheric effects and they tell a lot of tips on how they did the graveyard and water shots. and there maybe some information there you could use for yur haunts.

I scored a storage bin exactly like Rikki's, and I'll be making a chiller from that. And I will definitely be stealing the water bottle idea.
Rikki, can I ask what kind of plumbing you have inside that chiller? It looks like there is some cloth in there.

If you have a few days of your life to waste, here's a link to a discussion thread on the Vortex style chiller. It's considered, by some, to be the best chiller out there.

It was that thread that spurred me to build this for use with my VEI-950. It works great.
