So this is my attempt at replicating the awesome columns that PushEject made.... I think I did a pretty good job for my first prop building effort.

I used 3/4" styrofoam and 2x2 lumber for this project... beyond that I used my mitre saw and table saw to create the trim pieces and top of the columns... a Dremel tool was used to carve the brick detail in and then of course we had to paint... there is a little more we might touch up with the paint, but all in all I think they look good....

I second that. Your columns turned out great.

    By the way, welcome!

those are really neat. i always wanted to make columns, but I just never got around to then, and it seems like a big project..esp. because I seem to have A.D.D. when making things and all.

Great job! I love the brick showing through. After seeing yours I think that's what mine are missing.

    Very nice.
Did you cut the beveled edges by hand or did you use a router/table saw etc.?

Looking really good! I'd be pleased with myself if I were you. Maybe add a touch of moss on the bottoms?

I used my table saw for the beveled edges.... I don't own a router so I had to make due... honestly the table saw worked out great and left a real smooth edge... I also used the table saw for making the cap piece to the columns...

inside of each column I ran a piece of pvc up about 2'... I figure some sort of anchoring with rebar will be better than none... these columns are about 5' tall, but weigh hardly anything..

I'm embarrased to put his up next to mine... his are tremendous... but I still think mine look great and will really set the scene for my yard haunt...

I need to work on the paint on mine some more... the biggest thing I don't like about mine is that the bricks look too pristine, almost cartoony...
