Work in progress. Obviously.
The new neighbors are loving me right about now...(no, really, they are. Bunch of college kids)
Used Skull and Bone's Tutorial as a base.
Anyhow, been playin around with it over the weekend. No stain or anything yet. The top screw came off, and the whole thing fell, and the skull came off, so the whole head got messed up.
I'm not totally sold on the whole panty hose thing right now. We'll see how it stains, but I'ld probably go with tissue paper tomorrow, were I to have another to start. I'm just so much more used to working with it as a medium.
So, not the best in the world, and still have a ways to go. Been fun to go work on it a bit each night, and see the college boys bring their beers over to the fence each night to see what else I've done to it.
NOW is the question...
I want Fred IMPALED up on a BIG pole. High enough for people to walk under.
HOW?
Current ideas involve trying to hide a rope that suspends him. Or, using 3 large poles in a tripod fashion poking him from different angles. Welding little hooks onto the poles to catch ribs or something.

Looks like a great start. I like the idea of impaling Fred but buckys are heavy have you thought about using a cheaper light weight skelly for this?

what is the size of pole you want to put him on? The diameter ?
I have been giving this some thought on how you could make it happen?
you would have to attach sometime to the inside of the rib cage where you can hide it easy enough but be able to lock the pole into place some kind of coupler that will either screw the pole to it. Or where the pole can be inserted in to the coupler.Like maybe a 1" pvc T cap? screwed to the ribs. Then you can insert the implaed rod to hold him up.

My Uncle owns a metalworking shop, they're working on that part of it. The major bone of contention is not getting the pole or the bucky to stay on the pole, actually, it's getting the pole to stay upright without ripping open a hole and burying it.
Don't know, we'll have a few trials coming up before deciding on the best course.

I use 40# dirt bags on the base legs. I cover them with burlap and it just looks like the stake in buried in a mound.
In this picture you can see the dirt bags used on another prop (much bigger and heavier). Big winds were no prob..

Here's my impaled skelaton. There is a string that is holding him up by the rib cage to the top of the pole. Got a cheap plastic weapon and put that at the top.

Simple. Effective. Perfect.
I've been looking over your album there, Genexer. Great stuff, really. Lots of ideas for me to draw on.

Thanks very much. Last year I really went for it. This year, I'm moving into the garage and am trying my hand at my first animatronic prop (monster in a box). Pneumatics, VSA and DMX ...oh my!

Got word Fred "Scared the Crap" out of the babysitter (17). So, I guess he's coming along nicely.
