I always wanted to make some groundbreaking coffins to add to my graveyard, but I didn't want to spend a lot of time (or money) on them after building a complete coffin for the contest.
I took some scrap pieces of plywood, a couple of feet of 1 X 2 wood and some decorative moulding leftover from my coffin build and came up with this prop. Let me know what you think. I hope to make several of these before Halloween rolls around.

I love it! Also, great idea adding the creepy crow to the gravestone!
I think if you do a few in a row, it'll raise hell! Can't wait to see it, should you do it!

Pretty cool idea! And it cuts down on the build time (and cost) of making half a coffin to stick out of the ground...that alone gets my approval!

Thanks for the compliments. It's very easy to make. All you need is 4 pieces of plywood and some 1 X 2 wood (or similar).
guitarist--I figured the neighbors already think I'm wierd enough already, but I waited until the sun had almost set to set this up in the back yard for pics. The light is better then, anyway. My wife did drive in and ask me what I was doing.
freudstein--A few of thes in a row would look good. Thanks for the idea.
If anyone want the measurements of the different pieces to make it just let me know.

I like the subtle way that it's not overpowering. I just got done building the top half of a full size toe -pinch coffin for my ground breaker, and did it for less than $20, but this is great. Maybe with a soft glow of a light at night would look really nice.

    Good job.
