I am looking for a way to weatherproof my tombstones made out of foam sheets. I know I can use the enamel in a spray paint can, but does anybody know if there is a better option?

The easiest way is to get a can of water-based FLAT polyurethane and roll it on with a paint roller. It takes longer to dry, but I think it's worth it not to have to worry about harsh chemicals and propellants. You can get into the tight spots with a cheap brush.

I don't know if one way is better than another, but I have another technique... I painted all of the ones I made with exterior paint used for painting houses and such. I had them mix some medium grey paint and then I weather it with black and white spray paint. Has worked like a charm so far.

This is very good stuff to know....I will keep this info in mind for myself as well...but I believe the weatherproofing will be more for unseasonal temperatures than anything- rain won't be a problem this Halloween.

Has anyone tried that "stone" paint? I think Rustoleum makes it. It sprays a nice rough texture that resembles real rock or cement from 5 ft away. Just not sure how well it holds up to weather.

I have used this. It holds up pretty good, but just make sure you put either two coats or a protective enamel over it, because it chipped on the one tombstone I didn't coat.

Try waterbased driveway sealer, comes in gloss or flat/natural. Heavy uv stabilizer & stronger clear- it's meant for driving on, i found it great for sealing foam props, monster mud, etc. Home Depot & Lowes is were i get mine, gals best deal.
