Hey all. I decided to go ahead and do a donation box with a twist. It will be a podium with a donation slot in the middle. On top there will be a large old hotel like guest book for our visitors to sign. The idea for the podium came from Halloween Countdown Clock I like the idea of the duel purpose. I am also going to have a greeter standing behind the podium. This will just be a simple talk through boris and an mp3 player and speakers. I started building the podium today on and off through the 90+ degree heat. So working in the back yard in that sun warented a break every half hour or so to hit the pool. Anything above 80 and i slow right down. It will be 4' high to the rear down to a 42'' front. And is just about 30 '' wide. I cut out a slot in the front for donations and above that an 8'' by10'' cutout that will have a piece of plexi over it with the word donation painted on it and light from the back. I also cut 2 holes out that will hold the speakers. For the box itself i just used a plastic bin held in with 2'' by 2''. The sides and back will be added as it comes along.
Here is where i could use the voice help. I can build props, build houses and do hvac work. But voice work i can not. The greeter will be on a loop track. I was thinking along the lines of sort of a welcome speil into something to do with the haunt and all the scary stuff. And as far as the donation thing goes i wanted him to say towards the end something like "Why not donate to the boneyard. You know you won't be able to take it with you. Or you won't need it any more where you are going.
So as you can see i am not much of a story teller and could use some help with a story and voice work. I am wide open for suggestions. Here are a couple of pics of the podium so far.

The prop is coming along great, but more importantly......

MAN, YOU GOTTA' NICE BACKYARD!!! If ONLY I could get my grass to grow like that in my backyard. Every time I cut the back grass, I come back inside with bloody ankles from the rocks and sticks that were hurled at my legs.

"And now...", as Laurie says, "...back to your regularly scheduled programming"

Hey all. Well i have kind of made some changes to the new guest podium/donation box i was working on. First i decided to leave the greeter out of the picture. I wanted to add a little scare to it so i decided that one side will have a pop out creature. The head will be mounted to the inside of the door. This prop will be remote activated. When our guests are signing our guest book i will hit the remote to make our pop out 'well' pop out. There will be a light on him along with a rec/player board set to play something like ''Get me out of here"
Next i want to give thanks to voodo willy for his how to on creepy skin. I decided to make our own guest book. I have never worked with latex before so this was all new to me. I am very happy with how it turned out. What i am not happy about is the sticker shock on the latex. holy cow. Any ways here are a few pics. 1 is of the new door for the podium. I will work on this more later this week. The others are the creation of the guest book.

Hey all. Well i got to spend some more time working on the podium. I finished the top. First added a 2'' by 2'' stop bar. Then painted the whole thing black. Then i took a 2oz bottle of bright red acrylic and let it run down the top for streaks of blood. Then added a cut off head and a vulture, and Drilled a couple of holes to hold pens. I still have to add a light to it but am having trouble finding something i like. I am looking for something a little more creepy. If anyone knows of any good sites please let me know. Then i painted the front in black and added a 20'' foam coffin and skelly. Still have a ways to go but it is starting to look like it should.

Got a little further today on this prop. Painted the inside of the door where our pop out will come out. Added the speakers to the front. I painted the covers on the speakers flat black. Added our donation sign. I just used a piece of plexi painted black and green. My free hand sucks so i may change this, or not. I put in a temporary light to get a feel for it. Tomorrow my son is making a trek into the woods to find me some vines to dress out the outside with. So it's coming along with some more left to do. We hope you like the progress so far.....
