ok guys-
I FINALLY got this thing done! My goal is to develop some decent
looking tombstones this year. I've been dragging my feet on it, but I
finally started the process. Here's my 1st one in the batch- an
obelisk. It's more simple of a design than I originally wanted, but-
man, it's just soo freakin hot out there, too hot for me to drag this
thing out much longer. I just wanted to get it done ASAP.
The painting I went a little overboard on it- but, after seeing it in
low light at night time, it actually looks REALLY good. I was wanting
a pretty dark, worn and aged look for it- and that's what I got. I
added some green for the 'moss' effect. I'm sure you guys are aware of
the HUGE moss problem we have here in AZ- I figured I may as well go
as realistic as possible (HAHA!!!) There's imperfections on it- but
again, at night time, you'll NEVER see them. I think it turned out
better than I expected. Man, I love darkness. LOL!
I honored Walt Disney for the epitaph, don't think I need to explain
why. The guy was a genius, enough said.
Whatcha think?

Hey thank you! Like I said, I know I over painted it somewhat- but I was trying different techniques, and, in the end, it came out exactly the way I was wanting it to- dark, worn, lots of depth to it. I had to make the drips REALLY dark and obvious for them to be seen at all during the night time. And again, at night time, all the 'extra' paint/colors really do fade out, and it gives the perfect look I was wanting. I just wish it wasn't 106 degrees outside, or I'd be making more tombstones! hehehe... thanks for the compliment tho, it's feels good to have worked hard on a job and have it completed. Next time, I know I will do some less painting, but more carving/intricate details on the things.

I like it painted dark.
You do need to add some moss ... maybe even some ivy or vines of some sort
Looking forward to some more you get done!

Thats an awesome obelisk! So far to date I have been working on tombstones but my graveyard could definitely benefit with a prop like this. Thanks for sharing, and I look forward to seeing more of your work
