hm... it looks like the Lynx stuff may be worth investigating, however these guys look married to Vixen, and what I've seen of vixen hasn't impressed me. I could definitely bridge the gap between VSA and Lynx though.

Hey thanks everyone. I just got a second to sit down and skim this stuff. Off to DJ at a friends party. Will read more in depth tonight when I get home. Thanks for the great responses.

hi there, did you ever jump into the DMX universe? .... (LOL, thats a DMX joke). i bought one of the Enntec open USB controllers quite a few years ago and I use it with Freestyler software to control the few mobile DJ shows I do. i am just now jumping into the VSA to Enntec world.

Can VSA control the kit47 board? if so can anyone give a quick run down of how you do this? DMX seems like something to tackle next year for me. I just want to have three lights shine on my three skulls and have the lights turn on and off when each one are taking. Is the kit74 the cheapest (40 bucks), simpliest way to do this?

thanks phoenix. I was debating the lynxmotion's battlestar relays to do this but if the kit 74 will do the same for cheaper than I'll order up kit74 and ask for help on this thread when it gets here

I am just wondering - if someone offered the ability to control (dim) lights using VSA without using DMX would people be interested? I think that for flood lights and other heavy duty lighting DMX is the best solution but what about something that allowed you to dim and standard LED or the Lumiled LEDs?

Just found this thread during a search and I thought I'd mention that most LOR controllers can be used as dimmer packs in a DMX universe. You just need to upgrade to the latest firmware. Pretty cheap for a 16 channel dimmer pack. But it has to be used on either a LOR network or DMX - not both at the same time. Here is the documentation - http://www.lightorama.com/Documents/DMX-DOC.pdf
