    Hi all,
I got the wiper motor installed on Miss Thrifty's rocking chair last week. She's not quite finished - I need to make a new voice track for her and she needs some new shoes. She'll be sitting at the end of the driveway to greet the TOTs this year. Here's a short video:

The rocking chair skelly looks great, Otaku!! I thought about your prop recently when I passed a discarded rocking chair at the curb. I want to make a prop something like yours eventually, but I knew I didn't have the space for a rocking chair. So I passed it by--and know I'll regret it.

I thought she was great last year but with the rocking chair and her new shoes she'll be just perfect.

    Otaku,

I am interested in making my own rocking chair this year for my porch. I was wondering where you got the linkage for motor. Did you just figure it out yourself, or did you get measurements from a tutorial? I would appreciate any information that you could share with me.

I had to make the linkage to fit the small rocker - kind of a modify-as-you-go sort of thing . The basic linkage is just an aluminum bar that attaches to the wiper motor arm, and connects to a mounting point on the chair. Are you planning to use an actual rocking chair, or use something like a plastic lawn chair? There's a good how-to here:

    Scary Terry's Halloween Page

He's got a lot of good stuff on using wiper motors including a section on his rocking lawn chair. I'm going to be out of town for the next several days, but when I get back I'll post some close-up pics of the linkage I made for the small rocker.
