I'm just trying to learn something about 3d graphics. I was thinking of making a video to project on my window for halloween. I was experimenting and made a quick video and I'd like your feedback. The video shows a ghost flying around. There are 4 very short segments. The first 2 show the ghost flying in front of a wall and door, only the lighting is different. The third has just a black background. On the fourth I took off his arms and legs, so its just a torso and head flying around. I took them off because I probably won't have time to animate them and he looked pretty stiff with his arms and legs not moving. Of course this is a very rough draft at poor resolution. The final will be better. What do you think, which background do you like better and which figure should I use?

Played around with this some more and I think this model is a little better. Another short video here, 1 with the door background, 1 with the black. Which do you prefer.

Very cool indeed. I envy you CGI guys. I like the ones with the backgrounds they add perspective. Keep us posted how this goes!

Here is a 40 second render I rendered overnight. There are some tweaks I need to make - improving the fire and making the whole scene darker among others - but I think its coming along OK.
I'm using Blender to create it

That is a great start. I have not worked with Blender before, but seeing the newer version (compared to the original), you have made impressive strides with extras such as the particle fire and textured axe. I think if you play around with more dramatic lighting and some other effects (like attaching a particle emitter to the ghost to give it more of a whispy look), you could have a really spooky window.

Remove the background - especially if you intend to show it on the side of the house or projected behind the window.
Perhaps add glowing red eyes
Otherwise, excellent work!
