    Howdy

Is there a way to make a cannon sound like it's firing without using explosives or speakers? Perhaps air or Rubber diaphrams?

I have a carbide cannon made from pvc pipe and it sounds terrific, but I don't want to use explosives because of safety.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Why don't you want to use speakers?
I'm building two "working" pirate cannons but the sound of them firing will be coming from a digital recording (recordable Christmas ornament from Walmart) and played through speakers.

by wiring the cannons with small speakers placed inside the pvc with red and orange lights and some tubing for fog you will have a Great cannon .. and there are good sound tracks out there with cannon noise to use on your recording. Just my 2 cent

only thing i can think of if you don't want to use speakers would be to use an air compressor and a resivor tank with a large solenoid valve. but i really think your best bet is speakers

Yes. I will be using VSA to trigger my cannons. The trigger will be an air valve servo that will blow air through a fog resevoir and out through the front. At the same time, strobe lights and sound effects will play.

I've built an air cannon with a valve that has a 3/4 npt exhaust port and dumps out over 300sqin of air. It's run with a sensor and a microcontroller that I've programed
What can I attach to the valve to deepen the sound so it can be felt through ones body.

easiest to find are sprinkler valves as long as you are not using too high of pressure.
