    I have seen people wire a braking resistor to the drive relay.

    You need a two pole relay (two contacts driven by one coil), the motor connects to the two commons of the relay, Power is connected to the two Normally open contacts, The braking resistor connected to the two Normally Closed contacts. The resistor needs to be an high wattage type, 10 or 20 Watts in a sand cast shell.

    When you turn on power to the drive relay the power flows to the motor, when the relay turns off, the motor is connected to the resistor that causes the motor to brake.

    Using something like this may get you even closer then the ~5 Degrees you are getting now.

    That's an interesting solution, bradbaum. If I run into overrun issues after installing the motor in the coffin, I'll definitely try this. I'm using a DPDT relay for switching the 5VDC power. Thanks!
