I'm sure this is covered somewhere in the thread that ate Tokyo, but at I'm hoping someone might help me avoid reading 600 pages to find it
I got my skull rocking under control from a Prop2, but the limited memory is only allowing me about 2-3 minutes of animation time. So yes, I managed to get a Prop2 controlling 4 blended servo movements, but to be honest its a holy pain in the ass to animate. Its time for me to stop chasing this particular windmill, and give into using VSA.
Which leads me tho this, what servo controller are you folks using, and how are you powering it? Is there a source for a controller with the needed cables and P/S in one package?

Try Medonis Engineering! mini ssc and a booster is a very good servo controler I run all my skulls with it.
Good luck!

Well, it's already built with a Prop2, vMusic2 and Ping. I started working on his home yesterday.

From what I understood, you were looking to go to VSA instead of using the prop-2 which is limited in the length of the routine you can have. The prop-sx will give you the ability to use VSA.
I like the sound file you are using. I have the same sound file except I added a Vincent Price laughter clip to the end.
I'm in the process of building two skulls myself. I plan on mounting one on a bucky just like you did. In fact mine looks very similar to yours. I'm guessing you used minwax gel stain like I did. My bucky is housed in a torture cage/gibget.
How did you attach the skull to the body?

Shoot me your email, I'll take a pic for you (it's a lot easier and clearer than explaining)

I am using VSA with a SSC-32 servo controller from lynxmotion. I chose that particular board because I needed a lot of servo channels (it has 32) and I needed something inexpensive. (It is about $40.00)
If you are just doing one skull and don't plan on adding more, then I guess any controller would do the trick, but I have found that most are about the same price even if they only have 8 channels.
I power my controller itself (separate from the servo power) with a 6 Volt DC WallWart. I power the servos (lots of them...I use about 20) with a 5 volt 5 amp regulated power supply. Not really any way around that. You need the amperage and you can't have voltage spikes killing your servos.
You can wire it up any way you want. I build a little box with jacks in it and make extensions for the servos in each skull as shown in this part of the Thread that ate Tokyo:

That should about cover it.
