Hey everyone! It's building season, time to get excited =) I wanted to ask, for anyone who has built an air powered electric chair, what motor/tool did you use to get the motion of the victim in the chair? I have some electric motors, but really like the instant power and speed that pneumatics offer. Thanks for any suggestions!

When I made one once, I put a small motor inside the body with an off center weight on the shaft so it would shake when running. Worked really well. I wouldn't run it for long periods of time because the motor may get hot since it doesn't run at full speed with all the shaking. I had mine hooked up to an optical alarm system so when someone broke the beam it would run for about a minute. Haven' t used air.

Are you looking to make one for your 'guests" to sit in or one to use with a prop dummy?

I used a swamp cooler motor, pulleys and a home made crank shaft.

It really shakes the dummy up and down.

Check out the pictures of my chair at:

The same up and down action could be easily accomplished with an air cylinder.

I am working on an executioner throwing a switch for this year. I am also going to rewire the electronics to work with a prop-1.

Nice ideas guys, I'm looking for a prop, not something that any guests could sit on at all

I am thinking about a making a prop with a Bucky skeleton.

The idea is a corpsified skeleton inside an old furnace, when the door is opened the skeleton will jump and shake like he isn't completely baked yet.

KEEPSMILING, I was wondering how big of a motor you used and how you mounted the motor to the skeleton so it wouldn't vibrate loose
