my first prop for this year was a hangman. I followed the method set out by deathlord on his site (see above post for link)

I used all PVC conduit, a PicoBoo controller and some computer speakers inside, runs on a 2minute loop and works great, all for about 200 dollars

I also used Deathlords PVC body design, but I used a wiper motor in it intead of pneumatics, and it cost about 30 bucks to make, and in my opinion the motion is WAY better than any air powered one Ive seen.

I like the movement with the wiper motor. Could you share how you mounted the motor?

These are the only pics I have. The hip hinge is exactly like Deathlords. I will add however, that making kneecaps so the legs don't bend the wrong way is CRITICAL for the illusion to work. Otherwise it looks incredibly fake.

Oh and in addition to using glue, screw EVERYTHING down tight. It WILL come apart if you don't...trust me, had it happen two Halloween nights ago, and the bottom half was laying on the ground.

This is a great, and effective, prop. There is only one thing I'd caution you on.

It is very possible that such a prop will offend some people and result in negative press or even litigation.

At a major Haunted House I used to be involved in, we had a great 'hangin tree'. And old, mostly dead, oak. We thought, "Perfect tree for nooses". WRONG.

We were lucky to have a diverse clientele, except for an African-American woman who took offense at the noose. She said it 'scared her' (Haunted House...HELLOOO).

I've never figured out how a noose became a racist symbol. Sure, some nooses were used by racists...but they used to hang horse thieves, too. Not to mention highwaymen in England.

The sad thing is that the majority of people 'offended' by such symbols are not truly offended by them...they just need to find something to be offended by to further their agenda.

So, know your clientele. If in doubt, make sure that the prop can not be prejudiced into any particular clich..
Last night you were, unhinged. You were like some desperate, howling demon. You frightened me.
    ...Do it again.

Civilization is hideously fragile, there's not much between us and the horrors underneath, just about a coat of varnish.
