    Howdy

I'v read in some of these posts that some servo control boards have a drawback that if you are using VSA and it crashes or if your PC crashes or the power goes out that your servo's can burn out if they should go beyond their limits.
Is there some sort of handy-dandy circuit that can sense when something like that happens and make the servo's go to their center locations or make some relay turn off the power to them?
Or can someone design one and make it available? Maybe VSA could generate some sort of unheard tone, and if it should stop, the servo's center up.
I'v read the Skulltronix controler has something that protects them.

    Thanks

    'ello 'Smilin'...

The stuff you've read at that other website is scare tactics to get people to buy a certain board, thats does half what the Lynx board does for over three times the money.. If you want to buy into thier hype, then those guys will be happy to take lots and lots of yer money. If you read thru the entire 3-axis thread, the original guys that did the designing and building of the skulls used the Lynxmotion board. They knew what worked and what didnt, what was worth the money and what was a waste if it.

Using VSA, if you put in your specific servo paramaters, save it once, as the default, as you are supposed to.. NOTHING will happen to your servos if your computer crashes.

    Stick close, you'll go far

would you mind posting EXACTLY how to do that for us? I've never used VSA (yet) but am planning on it. It would be very helpful!
    Thanks!

I have, 'mate, several times. When you change VSA parameters to: your servos, your com port, speed and servo limits, click the small hammer in the bottom left corner, chose Save Defaults. They will be permanent.

Get the VSA Demo... lets you use it exactly like the full program, you just cant save any routine you make. Get the Demo, READ thru the help fils, it tells you how to use it.

Search for Pirate Speak Thread.... I posted them several months ago, in the list is "Dead Men Tell No Tales.mp3" Its a very simple audio file, PERFECT for learning how to use VSA. Download it, start VSA, import DMTNT, do a waveform analysis, VSA will make the blocks to move the servo, play it and be amazed. Click on my YouTube link, look at my "3-axis Skull test" video.. thats the file I used to learn VSA.

    'scare tactics!'

Sorry jack but you are completely wrong and that statement is boardering on libel, both Jerry and I have been very patient with you guys and have tried to offer you the benefit of a great deal of experience, and all we get back from you is insults and abuse!

Ask just about anyone in the industry why servo motors are considered poison in professional Animatronics.

Ask any theme park why they wont touch a servo animatronic prop with a barge pole

Why is the first question everyone who knows what they are talking about asks is "can you do a version without servo motors"

Better still ask any early rev SkullTroniX customer how many times they had to return a skull with a burnt out servo, and why they are falling over themselves to have their old skulls upgraded to BoC.

Developing the BoC was not a get rich quick scheme, it was an absolute necessity, without it we would be spending more time rebuilding old skulls than we would be building new ones.

Your boards run half as many servos, for more than three times as much, wheres the slander? Take the hint, stop pushing something no one here wants or can afford.

Suggesting that our advice that servos burn out is just "scare tactics" is LIBELOUS, you put it in print, its only slander if you say it.

And what do you do after your 32 channels?...... BoC supports 400 on just a single cable!

the truth is we stopped "pushing" this product a long time ago, in the group buy thread, since then we have just been answering questions that people have raised from time to time.... whilst all you have been doing is trying to silence these questions..... the real question is why are you pushing the lynxmotion board so hard???

whatever. If you took the time to read thru the original thread, the build was designed on the SSC32.
