Well here it is, my design from last year worked so well that I scaled it up for this year and I'm getting the Chauvet F-1700 to complement it !

Are you using ice on top of the screen? How does it drain?
Thanks for the post.

fog comes in from teh outside through the bottom tube. You have ice on top of the screen sitting. It rises through the uptube, expends on TOP of the ice, then flows THROUGH the ice back down to the bottom chamber- where it expands some more and chills on the way down. Then it flows out the bottom tube...
I made this 3 years ago. This is the infamous Chiller that Wil created and charges big bucks for. Simple design, works great, cheap to build...

Just out of curiousity, what if you reversed the intake and exhaust. Wouldn't the fog rise through the pipe to the top(assuming the top is sealed) then eventually get cold and full enough to force the fog out the bottom pipe.

That's how it works now... watch this-
Fog enters the pipe that curves up and to the top. Ice is sitting on the tray, I dunno- hard to say but figure 5-6 inches deep. There's still room at the top between the ice and the lid for fog to expand. So it enters the bottom, flows up the rounded pipe to the top chamber. It sits on the ice until it cools and trickles THROUGH the ice and falls down to the bottom chamber, under the ice. At that point it finds its way through the side exhaust pipe.
Make sense?

how it works is the fog enters through the straight pipe it is about 190 degrees so it rises naturally upward thought the ice that sits on the white screen and then is forced down through the pipe that has a 90degree bend and out. i use regular ice filled up to the top of the outlet pipe witch is about 80lbs of ice . to drain you just take off the top and tip the barrel i was to lazy to put in a drain. I will post some working video later tonight !
