I downloaded AUDACITY, but have never used it before. I have a stereo MP3 file of two skeletons telling jokes that I want to split into left/right audio in order to have two Talking Boris heads bantering back and forth.
I wondered if anyone who has experience doing this could tell me how to go about doing it. I looked at the several tutorials on the Audacity web site, but didn't see one that seemed to be what I needed. It may be I just don't know what I'm looking for.
I'm willing to jump into it and try to figure it out, but I thought I'd ask first.
Thanks for any help you can throw my way.

If it's like GoldWave, you select the segment you want to move to track 2 & CUT, then switch to track 2 & PASTE at the same point.

It's pretty easy. all you have to do is import an mp3, then click on the song title (next to the x), you'll see one of the options in the drop down box is "split stereo track". once you split it, hit edit, select all, then hit file, export selection as mp3.

jrzmac--Looks like your instructions are working great. I haven't played with it much yet, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.

I'd be glad to share them when I'm done. I think I've almost got one track ready for testing.
I'm still working on modifying the Boris skulls also.
Here's the web page I got the raw skeleton joke files from:

thanks! those are the files i'm currently using. How are you modifying the boris skulls? I basically just tape each microbone to a speaker. I also have each one attached to a Mr. Thrifty skeleton.

I'm using the tutorial put together by forum member-OTAKU. Here is a thread on another forum that has a link to the Adobe file his tutorial is on (on Page 10).
All the parts come from Radio Shack.
I have all the parts, just haven't finished one yet. (I'm trying to finish a coffin by April 30th.)

That's funny. I'm using your paper already. I think I found it on HauntProject and printed it off.
It's been very helpful (since I don't know anything). But between your paper and help from other forum members, I think I'm learning a lot.
    Thanks for writing it up!!
