I got an idea from looking at ( I know ) Christmas lights. How about switching out the bulbs on icicle lights to yellow, red and orange so they look like flames. Attach them to a straight line base with supports sticking up to attach the icicles to.

    Kind of like that^

Add some ground breakers and fog and you've got Hell.

That's a great idea! We did something similar to this one year but instead of swapping out bulbs we used red, yellow, and orange Sharpies on the bulbs. Wasn't as vivid as factory colored bulbs but saved a huge amount of time.

Sharpies would save alot of time. I've changed out bulbs on my tree strands to get the color combo's that I've wanted, talk about sore fingers!

I wonder if glass paint would work?

Hey I have an idea for you to try
I saw a web page about fake fire using fogger and a fan to force the fog through hole in a (looked like black PVC drainage pipe) in a cabinet to hide the working and a string of LED light R Y B to simulate the color of the fire in the fast moving fog effect. It looked real and you could do some really cool stuff like step through it. I'll look for the address. If I can't find it I copied the whole page and I can send it as a word document. With simple diagrams.

At Michael's craft stores you can buy Stained Glass Paint (I think it's called) to use to paint the clear Xmas bulbs whatever color you want.

That's what I was thinking of. Because it can be used on household glass it should be able to withstand the heat produced by the lights.
