Yesterday I got inspired by a few of you guys and gals grave diggers and thought hey I can do this.
I left work a few minutes early and went to the salvation army store. I was able to purchase a pair of overalls, boots and a wedding dress for the total amount of $4.35.
I went online last night and found the perfect old man mask. Including shipping $10.00.
So this weekend I plan on making my first static prop of the year. I already have a flickering lantern (project from last year) and a shovel.
Now all I need to do is bring home a lot of newspapers to fill his body, get some pvc for the frame, and get to working on this.
I will post pictures of my progress here on this thread.

I found the mask on ebay. They have a new feature called offer price. The seller's original asking price was 6.99 then shipping. I asked the seller to knock the mask and shipping to 10.00. Other masks were averaging over 10.00 then shipping.
Any suggestions for eyes? Where I can get some? I am going to use a styrofoam head to fill the mask.

Great mask!
As far as the eyes...
I would try a ping pong ball cut in half and use the iris printouts that have been floating around here: www.hauntershangout.com/home/easyeyes.asp
I've used these, and they work very nicely.
When I did it, I cut out the iris and then put a cut from the pupil to the outside edge so as to get it to lay properly on the round shape without creases. I used regular glue to attach. Then (after the glue dried) I coated the whole eyeball with several coats of clear nailpolish. You can paint tiny veins and such into the eye before sealing it, but I chose to just have the white showing.
Something I'm probably going to do if I do a grave digger, is to to a filmy white over the eyes to simulate a blind effect. I was thinking that just the way you are showing the mask is kind of creepy - just have the eye holes white and empty. In a dimly lit flickering kind of set up, that would actually scare the crap out of me.I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002
