Ok folks, here's what I'd like to attempt.
Remember the scene from "Aliens" where the team find the Lab? There are tall glass cylinders containing the "Hand with the snake tail" suspended in fluid. When a charactor leans toward the container, the Alien leaps up against the glass, shocking the %$#& out of him.
I'm thinking of recreating this by using either a hidden piston or blast of air to "thrust" a model Alien around inside a large plexglass tube of some kind, triggered manually by a neaby handler.
I'd love some Idea's on creating the Alien and engineering the mechanics.
(If you've looked at my Peppers Ghost "how to" from last year, you'll see that I have no fear of complex projects)
Game on!!

You could do this using the same type of mechanism as descried here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Simp...-robotic-hand/ for the face hugger's legs and then animate the tail/stalk similarly using pneumatics to control the strings or a wiper motor
