Anybody know how this guy might have made this chiller???I think it might just be a basic setup of a chiller but it disperses really well and stays low. I noticed he also uses a small bag at the end of the hose to disperse it more. Also if you know how to make a really good fog chiller that would be great. I need to know for an upcoming production of Dracula and I need the whole stage to be covered in low fog. The on we used for Fiddler on the Roof was just a metal drum container with a heater in it and than you would fill the drum with water and drop in dry ice. than cover it with a top and a funnle at the end. It covered the stage pretty well and stayed prettly low as it was only dry ice and nothing else. but I really want to use a chiller instead just because it is easier to controll than the dry ice bucket. Like I said I need thick fog that will stay low to the ground and cover a pretty good size stage. any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Might be nice if we could see the link GDFreak. Why spend the mega bucks? You can build you an awesome chiller out of some chicken wire. pvc pipe, can of great stuff, and one or two Styrofoam coolers ( I use two, they cheap to build )that uses only ice and will lay down the ground hugging fog you desire.

Oh I know. I've built like about 5 chilers in my life thus far. im not looking to spend a lot of money at all. Just a really good chiller to make. all though...I could have the theatre buy a low fogger...a really GOOD low fogger!!!
but Im looking for better ways to make a chiller. Can you stake my heart?

GD, I'm needing a lot of low lying fog too.
The 2 chiller idea could work. Spookzilla, do you get a good amount of fog when you run it through 2 chillers ?

GDfreak, I would send a message to Spookineer or check out his pics on his Sinister Space site. I know he has a very cool chiller he built and I think you can hook up 2 foggers to one chiller and it really pumps out the fog. Give him a ring!

I also built a chiller that worked fine outside last year, but EVERYTHING revolves around the temperature of the outside air.
If it's 50 or 60 degrees out, almost any chiller will work well and the fog will stay low.
If it's 30 degrees or less, you are going to have trouble if you are just using ice to chill. The coldest thing will stay at the bottom and warmer things will rise. If the air outside is colder than the fog coming out of your chiller, then it WILL rise. I used dry ice in my chiller to cool the fog and ran it through a cooler with a series of plastic baffles in it so the fog couldn't just shoot through without being chilled down long enough.
I had a warm night, about 45 degrees if I remember right, but I was ready for temperatures down to the 20's because of the dry ice in the cooler. 10 pounds of dry ice pellets was all it took.

I discovered last year that the fogger made more of a difference than chiller design.
My chauvet 1250's absolutely covered the world with fog, using the basic cooler/chiller design.
My other foggers made me think chillers wouldn't work.
Of course, you have to have perfect temps and absolutely ZERO winds. I mean not even the draft from cars driving by at a distance.
