Hi everybody! I'm lokking for some opinions regarding the crank speed for a FCG. I've built several FCG rigs and I always used the Dayton 2Z806, 6 RPM motor on them. Since this motor is obsolete, I'm looking for an alternate to use.
I found another motor that could be a possible substitute. It is much more powerful than the old 2Z806 and it is cpable of a higher side load on the output shaft, which is all great. The problem is, it will only run 4 RPM rather than 6 RPM.
Does anyone have any thoughts on if this will be too slow? Any opinions would be appreciated!

Actually, it will probably look better at the slower rpm, 6 has always looked a little fast to me.

I ran into the same thing this past Halloween but when I called Grainger to order the Dayton they told me it was disconntinued but they had the part # of the replacement motor (which basically was the same motor). 4RPM should be good or if you like I can get into my attic to get the part # off the replacement motor.

I think my FCG is about 4RPM, if not slower and I think it looks great.
Most people don't even realize its moving until they look back at it a second time and its head has bobbed and the arms have risen or dropped. The slow speed adds to the scary effect!- The Crypt Keeper
