Definitly a lot cheaper to build your own. If your unsure how. I can definitly help you or walk you through the process!

Parts are available at your local hardware or even most walmart store. I get my motion sensors there, they are 15dollars in the Toronto area!

"Letting the power out" can be achieved two ways, similiar to their method or with two small light socket plug adapters, available at your hardware store.

If you want some more "detailed" instructions how to build one, let me know and i can put together a tutorial as i'm sure others in the forum would like to know

As for wattage, its tough to say EXACTLY but i'd imagine at least 200+ , most flood light bulbs that these sensors are meant for are inthe 60 - 100 watt range and two of them.

    Hope i could help!

Crypt Keeper: I would to see how you did yours. I have very little experience with electrical projects but I would like to give it a try.

My first electrical project for this year's yard haunt is to make a few LED spotlights. I have spent the last few weeks finding out what I need to make a few good lights.

    Copied myself from another thread:

1 - motion sensor kit, one that screws into a light socket.

1 - lamp base (anything you want)
1 - screw in adapter that gives you an outlet in a light socket

You plug the lamp base into an outlet or extension cord. (it will be always on)
You screw the motion sensor into the lamp base.
You screw the adapter into the motion sensor socket/base.
Plug the prop you want to activate into the adapter.

Set the sensitivity to your liking. I use the TEST setting.

If that doesn't make sense, I can try to elaborate. I can also perhaps dig up one of the units out of the attic and take a photo.

Where did you find a motion detector like that, wilbret? I checked Wal-Mart and Lowe's with no luck.
