I've searched high and low online and found many recipes for fake blood, stage blood, realistic blood, etc etc...
Which recipes are you guys using?
Last year I built a fountain and made what I thought was a great recipe for blood to only find out half way through the night that the blood had congiled (hardened) and wouldnt run through the pump in my fountain !
Attached you can find a picture of the fountain !

Hmmmm. I don't have a recipe for blood per se, but I do have a punch recipe that I run thru a pump all night with no problems. It does have a nice dark red color and since it contains next to no sugar it hasn't damaged the pump (4 years now)
It's as follows:
2 qts grape crystal light
2 qts raspberry crystal light
1 qt lite cranberry juice
Rum to taste.
So I was thinking maybe if you used just the crystal light part of the recipe it might work pretty good. Not as thick as real blood but maybe people wouldn't notice that? I don't know, I probably didn't help much. Sorry.

If you don't care about the 'thickness' of the blood, I would just use Koolaid. Unless what you have would STAIN. Several pks of Cherry koolaid and a little of grape would give you a very RED red... the grape would darken it some. But this would stain a lot of materials so you'd want to test it first..... maybe if you cooked this with a little surejel to thicken it some.. might work.

Lynn & I have the same idea. With the koolaid just don't add the sugar, not good for your pump.
Spookzilla - It's very tasty, I promise.
Wish I had a decent picture of my fountain to post! Darn it!! Never enough time just before the party!

Indeed that was the idea behind the fountain, a floating head that spews blood!
I've been trying to put together various how-to's for my website, including one for my fountain. Ill get working on them and post some pictures for you all.
As for the blood recipes, I was really trying to go after the thicker look to the blood i did experiment with jsut colored water and wasn't 100% satisfied with the consistancy!
I might have to settle this year for something less than real !- The Crypt Keeper
