Howdy all, been a wile....OK, a long wile. LOL
Going through all the old Christmas lights I ended up with lots of non working strands. Pulled all the mini bulbs out and now have lots of long green wiring. Now I haven't tried this and it's just an idea. I was thinking of getting camouflage material and cutting it and layering it in a way to make bunches of 'leaves' for the vines. Wiring or gluing these to the sockets. Depending on how cheesy they look this might be better over the stones furthest from the path. If it works I'll end up with an overgrown and neglected looking graveyard. And if it doesn't work I'll end up with more stuffing for a dummy or two. LOL
I also have a good hand full of empty berry vines. Used the red berries in a few indoor wreaths and 45 ft of branched evergreen garland. Was thinking of wiring these together for some dead vines closer to the path.

The cold winter air lets me know I'm still alive. I feel it as I breath in and see it as it leaves me. It's the point in-between I'm not sure about.....

I made some vines out of rafia, not the thin kind, the thick kind. I wrapped it in floral tape and airbrushed some brown on them. I also got regular green wire and also wrapped it in floral tape, so now I have thick and thin vines.

Hi Putrid!! Personally I hate storing stuff, so I just go cutting away at all the trees, vines, etc. in my yard already and then push the ends into the yard near the stones or everywhere and then over the month, they die. It looks overgrown instantly and I can throw it away afterwards, so nothing to store.

Austin
, cool idea. do you have just vines or have you tried using anything for leaves?
Pandora, bet that looks really cool. Nothing like the real thing. The cold winter air lets me know I'm still alive. I feel it as I breath in and see it as it leaves me. It's the point in-between I'm not sure about.....

Heres another "Vine Idea" for you to try... Use liquid nail. Cut the tip small or wide depending on how thick you want the vine to be. Go to your local fake flower shop and get a bag of plastic petals (not sure what they are called but Ive seen them before) and just stick them to the liquid nail while its wet. Best part is liquid nail is inexpensive, drys brown, and can be used to glue stuff together.

that is about the coolest thing i have seen. i am always throwing away lights. they just don't seem to last long. after christmas you can buy them so cheap that it is easier to just buy new than mess with them. i also am picking up every fall garland i can find at garage sales. seems you can always use that. one year my sister gave me a bunch of her cut grapvines, but they are not that flexable and are very bulky, storage was a problem. this could easily be stored, and from the picture they look great. i don't have any strings now, but i think i will go ahead and buy some floral tape and liquid nail for down the road. thanks, love it.

It's much easier to wrap the rafia with floral tape, then cut off some thin pieces of floral tape to tape to the rafia. This creates the "leaves".
