Im looking to start a thread that will become our "How To" for turning hacked PC Workstation Power Supplies into centralized power supplies for the 3 Axis Skulls.
Typical Set-up utilized Brookshire VSA Software, SSC 32 Lytronix controller, Multiple Hitec HS-425BB (Skull Pan-Tilt-Nod and Jaw) and HS-65HB (Optional Eyes).. etc.
Here are (2) useful Links on hacking power supplies I've found so far:
http://web2.murraystate.edu/andy.bat...owersupply.htm
http://www.hackaday.com/2005/05/11/lab-power-supply/
...and one added by Phoenix_UK at: http://www.scary-terry.com/atxps/atxps.htm
...and another added by psyko99 at: http://www.wikihow.com/Convert-a-Com...b-Power-Supply
As I get a handle on this I'll gladly post pictures of not only the power supply, but also the connections to the SSC32 and servos. hopefully to take away some of the phobia for others that I am currently experiencing.
For starters, I could use a mathamatical formula to figure out just how big the power supply needs to be. So that would include the power the SSC32 itself needs, as well as the servos. Also helpful would be a standard that tells us how heavy a gauge of wire is required to feed the servos from the SSC32 as well as how much heavier the wire has to be over certain distances.
Lots of questions and issues, and plenty more that I haven't mentioned. I hope some of the 3 axis forums "heavy hitters" weight in on this and make suggestions and contributions.
