Anyone in the Charlotte NC area interested in going together to buy some 2" pink owens corning foam sheets?
I checked with Lowes and they will order it for $30.41 +tax a sheet, depending on the number of sheets ordered the price may be lower.
Just trying to gage interest, as I am tired of gluing up 3/4" sheets to get the desired thickness.
If you interested post a reply and indicate how many sheets you would want, this is not a committment just an expression of interest. if there is enough interest then we can proceed from there.

Like many areas in the south Lowes and Homedepot don't stock anything thicker then
3/4"...but thanks for the heads up I'll get a price from HD as Lowes has a price guarentee.

Just as an FYI, there is a "styrofoam" shop here that buys & stocks pieces up to 4' thick. They have the huge hot-wire cutters that make 100 pieces of crown molding out of 1 block. I stopped by there on day - very impressive work. They had just bought a huge CNC (?) - a 3D carving maching, but hadn't fired it up yet. Anyways... they told me if I ever needed anything thicker than Lowes stocks (2"), just give them a call. If they don't have the thickness I need laying around, they'll slice one off a larger block.
I can't imagine they are unique. Check around - there might be something like that around where you live. Check with building contractors that might use them for custom facade & elevation work.
Also, I found another distributor that sells construction-grade styrofoam panels (for under poured concrete slabs). I bought some 4" thick panels (for my Tiki Statues http://www.starkmadness.com/photos/d...album=20&pos=1), but they were very dense & a little heavier than the stuff at Lowes.
Yes, I know, Styrofoam is a trade name, but I can never remember the name of the generic material, other than "white stuff" (as opposed to "pink stuff")."Well I guess they were wrong then, weren't they?" I-gor

Don't know if this is too late but I saw 2" Owens Corning pink foam for $24 at the Home Depot in Greensboro, NC.
I don't want to just scare them... I want to mess them up for life!
