What theme arrrrr you going for? Jason, Freddie, MikeMyers, Frankenstien, ghosts, pirates, plain cemetary? If we know what theme you arrrrr leaning towards we could come up with a couple suggestions.. Dont forget you can build pros too, not just buy them, you have a lot of time in which to build..

Build your self a trash can trama, its an easy prop to build and gets a great reaction from the treaters.

My trashcan was a big hit this year, and I built it in about 10 minutes. The only thing I had to buy was a pumpkin.
-trashcan
-bicycle pump
-sprinkler valve
-some hose
-power supply
-motion detector
-computer speakers
-mp3 player
-large fake pumpkin
-a few screws and such
KAZZZAM!
The biggest scare by far was my air cannon. I hid the IR in a skull, and the cannon was underneath a pirate prop. It scared people that were expecting it on the way out. It was LOUD, instant and you could feel it.

Wilbret- do you have a tutorial for your trash can? I'm totally new to prop building and this sounds like something I might be able to do myself (without a whole lot of hubby help). I didn't have any animated props last year at all and I am so looking forward to some "action" this year. hehehe

Here's a link to the one I unashamedly ripped off:
My New Trashcan Pop Up
There's another tutorial in the tutorial section here, I believe. The Florida/Orlando guys did a make and take, with a few variations from mine. (pumpkin vs head, washer valve vs. sprinkler valve, etc) They also have a sweeping hand, I just have a head that pops up.

Another nice easy thing would be to do the fan mount in a body, put a mike myers, zombie mask, etc. on it. Looks like a real person standing in the background looking back and forth. I've always loved that...the directions are on the monster list above. We had Mike Myers on our roof kneeling over and it looked like his head was looking back and forth over the trick or treaters...they loved it. (be sure to follow the directions closely though so you don't burn your mask/start a fire :-)
www.monsterguts.com has great supplies at a reasonable price...wiper motors with quick connects so you don't need to figure out how to wire things, etc. for wiper props above. the FCG's aren't hard to build and are very impressive. I think the flailing arm/kicking legs props looked fairly easy as well. With a $50 - 60 budget...it is probably best to buy a few supplies and make your own prop....it will be much better than what you find for your money at a store...and you can impress your friends because it will be original!
