I'm thinking about making a static prop of a ghost bride. Since I'm a newbie I could use some help with my brainstorm....What if I used a "glass" wig stand head instead of Styrofoam and sprayed it with the black-light reactive hairspray. Do you think it would look ghostly, or not show up at all. Has anyone ever used a glass wig head with black-lights? Or, do you think I should stick with a Styrofoam head?

I've never even seen a glass wig head. If you have one handy you could give it a try and see how it turns out. You'll just need to find a safe place where the kiddies can't touch it. So is the glass clear? And how would you mount it? The only thing I could think of that might work is maybe duct tape. This sounds like it might look really eerie if it's done right.

The glass would be clear. I don't have one right now but I have seen them. I can probably find one online. It would be an inside prop and we don't have to be concerned about little ones here. I'm making a mold for the body using a dress form and if I use a glass head I would put a solid plywood top at the neck, attached to the body with a PVC frame running down to a wide base at the bottom for stability. I would use epoxy (for strength) to attach the pieces and mount the head to the plywood base at the neck. The wedding dress has a high-neck collar that will hide these connections and the base will be covered by the long dress.

The more I think about the prop, the more sure I am that I'm going to do it. Whether I use a glass head or sculpt a head and detail it in white. I already have the dress and veil, so why not make use of them.

What a cool find! A light inside is the first thing that comes to mind. It would preferably be an LED so no need for venting the heat out. There's also a product that etches glass. It comes in a creamy liquid form and is available at Michaels. The etched class on the outside with the light shining inside would then look very ethereal. You could also add some downloadable eyes from here http://www.hauntershangout.com/home/easyeyes.asp and glue then in place from the inside. Then the light would glow through those as well. The possibilities are endless with this clear head....hmmmmm

It's a little heavy, but the bottom is open (like a jar)... so I'm sure there's some way to attach it. You might check out Pier One, its possible they still sell them.
