Default Creepshow trunk

I got to watching Creepshow this weekend and thought of a great idea for a new prop.
The segment where they find a trunk under the stairs at a university.....
The trunk came from an Arctic expedition from 1838 and had big heavy chains on it.
Well, inside the trunk is a monster that likes to eat people.

My thought is to get a big old heavy trunk, stencil the sides with Arctic Expedition etc....put big heavy chains and locks on it and a hydraulic piston that will make the lid bang up and down like something is trying to get out.

What I need help with is the size of piston that I would need and how to power it.
Also, how to make it bang up at a random pace on Que.

Oh, and this is the cute little feller that lives in the trunk...

Of course I'm not the first to think of this.
Thanks for the links.
I'll read through them tonight.

That's what I based my creature crate on. Check out this thread, it may give you some good ideas.
