Hello, I'm new to these forums and am wondering if you can help. My brother bought a fog machine a few years ago (Don't remember how much but it was a liquidation sale, so pretty cheap) but it hasn't worked since we got it. I took a look at it the other day and realized that the pump just... Doesn't pump.
It gets power and vibrates and makes sound, but theres no actual suction. The fog machine is the Fog commander Lite F/X 1000 watts. Does anybody have any idea how to A) Fix the pump (Not likely, but worth a try) or B) find a replacement? I saw this really cool thing on instructables (The laser vortex, sorry cant post link but you can search it pretty easy) and just need the fog machine left to get it working. (Can do it without, but MUCH less cool )

Just to clarify, you did open it up and check inside? The reason I ask is that I have had the inlet hose fall off the pump on mine. I rigged a miniature hose clamp out of twisted wire and it's been fine ever since.

I opened the pump yeah, it looked fine but wont actually work. The tube definitely has a good seal (Was loose at first but I put some teflon tape on there and its good now for sure) but I put my finger right on the pump and couldn't feel any suction.

Sort of found the problem in a more specific way... (Though it makes me thing that theres no hope ) In the pump theres a compression spring with a hook at one end, the hook snapped off though. I'm pretty sure thats the problem. Is it possible to get a replacement spring? Or even just get a replacement pump from fog commander (I haven't been able to find a site for em so I don't know) anyways, all help is greatly appreciated

Take the broken part to the home improvement store, and see if you can't find a replacement part. I've had good luck with that, even if they don't understand the whole halloween thing.

Alright, only problem is that the outer pump is attached with wires (Cant be desoldered, they go right into the pump) But I guess I can cut those off and heatshrink the new one on. Thanks for the tip and maybe next year I can get that effect working :P Looks so awesome...
