Default Overlaping communications error in VSA?

Every time I plug my air cannon into the KIT 74 (which is run by VSA) I get an error message that says:

"overlapping communications error detected. Windows has halted playback"

This happens when the air cannon is triggered. It shoots for a split second, and then the entire program stops. Every other channel works fine, and any other light plugged into the air cannon channel will work fine too. The air cannon also works on other channels. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Have you more than one instance of VSA running and trying to simultaneously address the parallel port?

The address is set right... that ws one of the first things I checked. There is only one instance of VSA running. I just tried it again to make sure. It only does it about half the time, the other half it works. VSA freezes up when it happens and have to exit and (sometimes) restart my computer before it will work again.

Ive seen VSA freeze from time to time, and have found that if I unplug the PSC then VSA unfreezes, you still have to shut VSA down again but at least you dont have to reboot the PC

Can we get a bit more info? controler boards, Operating System, and length of cable connectin the pc to the kit 74 to the pc.

Just trying to figure out the problem..
I have a issue with VSA and if I try to light all 8 channels at the same time.. channel 3 won't trigger.. but I know it's due to the 20 foot cable connectin the box. Just trying to see if there are patterns to thses strange things..

even if the spike did get past the relay it would then have to bypass the Darlington array...

... it could be a doggy Darlington array but that doesn't explain everything either.... but it does remind me of the time I connected a 24VDC air solenoid directly to a Darlington array backwards and it fried the array....

forgive the dumb idea but why not just connect the cannon to a different channel and use the dodgy channel for something else??

If it comes down to it, I can switch channels. I was just trying to figure out the problem so it could be solved. I am using a 3 foot parallel cable to the KIT 74 and using windows XP. I'll try putting the air cannon on a seperate breaker and see if that helps anything.
