I just made a list of EVERYHTING I need for our HH this year, and i'm afraid I still need more. lol. It's going to cost a lot of money i dont have. Do you think it would be wrong of me to make up flyers and go around to my neighbors asking for some stuff they might just have laying around the house?

Try putting a free ad at craigslist, or your local freecycle.org.
I wouldn't make up a flyer, but I'd keep my eyes open, and mention to friends and neighbors what you're looking for. Maybe they'll be able to locate some stuff you need.
I am of course assuming it's things like wood, pvc, foam, etc.

I think either is ok...if you live in an area where neighbors are super friendly...a flyer wouldn't be bad. It wouldn't work where I live though. Craigslist and freecycle are very good suggestions though!

I was looking for a used snowblower a couple of years ago and I ended up taking out a free wanted ad in our local Pennysaver Classifieds. I stated in the ad I was looking for something reasonable in need of repair. I ended up bringing home like 5 of them the first weekend and 2 of them were free. So many people called me I had to start turning them away. I think a lot of people have stuff laying around and may just be too lazy to place an ad. Seeing as they just had to make a phone call, I think more people were willing to respond.

Depends on what you need... not sure posting a flyer asking for a coffin is going to get results and might annoy people... I find that one to one conversations normally work better... also I have seen stuff (broken fence - tree branches) and left personal hand written notes on doors, that have had good results.

haha yeah, i dont think i'd get good results from the coffin asking idea either. However, I was thinking more along of the lines of, wood, paint's, pvc pipe, motors, water pumps, old sheets, etc. My neighbors are pretty friendly so i think i'd get good results...i just can't deicde. haha.

I don't think it would be bad to ask for supplies as long as you are not asking for money. However, I would probably give craigslist or freecycle.org a try first. I've never used them, but they sound like they could work out great.
