They are high energy high voltage insulators used in (very) high voltage power lines. These are used to seperate the power line from the power pole. for an example of these, check out this yahoo search
search.
Be prepared to pay $ for real ones! espacially the cone shaped or longer ones.
Last year I found a set of (used) new rollerblades and took the wheels off. didnt finish the project but it seems that stacked and painted white, it might fake someone.
I am sure that someone here has a better idea!

Thats what I was thinking that they actually look like the real deal. So if you are cheap like me you might wanna fake it, I think you could buy some plungers that look pretty similiar and just cut off their handles. Here is a link to a few different styles

I was out dumpster diving and found some of those electrical things and brought them home. One of my friends who knew what they were made me get rid of them, he said they could be VERY dangerous.
I saw a craft show where they were making candlestick holders out of clay pidgeons (the kind used for skeet shooting). They just glued them together, stacked them, painted them and they looked just like those electrical things. I hear they're priced very reasonably. Does anyone know how much clay pidgeons are?

Only a suggestion here, but I remember seeing collapsible water bottles at a camping store thos might work. Also, if you want ultra cheap a chinese latern would also work.
You can also, try those plates that go under plants made of red clay. If you alternate each one that may fit the bill.

How about those expandable downspout extensions, HD, a couple of dollars each. Spray paint them with rustoleum for plastic.
There is a little EVIL in everyone..... Some of us are just better at showing it!!!!!!

Those do look like the real deal, but it's hard to tell. Do you know anyone who has a lathe? Turning something like that would be pretty simple. Or you could use a drill with two sizes of circle cutter and stack them up. The hard point would be the glossy paint job.
Some kind of fast food type plastic container spaced evenly on a piece of PVC might give you the right look.
