Default Wow!

WOW WOW WOW!! Seriously, I cant believe what i am seeing going on. Most of you are adults and are acting so childish!!!! This is ridiculous!!!!!!!! I see everyone points but for some of you to make personal attacks on people for what they believe is extremely rude!!! You should all be ashamed of yourseleves! This is the HALLOWEENFORUM and not some site to make fun of peoples beliefs. I also agree on not focusing on the past but its going to happen. All empress asked was for that word not to be used. She said nothing wrong and was very polite about the whole situation. I view this site as a halloween family and as a family you should RESPECT each other. WHY IS THIS SO HARD????? As far as hangings and such, I for one do not have this at my haunt, not because I dont like them, more along the lines of my mom. As a kid, she witnessed many of these happen in the country she was born at. That brings bad memories to her regardless of it happened in the past. She witnessed them happening and she never wants to see it again. She also did not want any tombstones in front of the house on halloween or any sorts like that. But eventually, she realized its just fun and nothing serious. This is not the halloween forum i know. NOT AT ALL!!! I wish all of you would just GROW UP!! That is coming from a 19 year old.
NOW, CAN WE FOCUS ON HALLOWEEN!?!?!?!!?!!?

Suggestions for the joint are at the end of the post, so skip there if you do not want to read my ranting.

I see no problem with calling a prop a lyching, hanging, torture room, crypt, or any other term. the point is to make the scare work. If the name helps to set the tone, all the better.

My offense is the Empress bringing in that she is African American and that they have some special place to be offended by the term. Lynchings have been perpetrated all all types of people against all types of people, and no one group has any right or need to be more offended than any other.

In just the recent past, we have had an example of lynching in Texas where white people dragged an African American behind a pickup truck until dead. We also have an example where African Americans in Los Angeles dragged a white person out of his truck and beat him almost to death. In both cases, the victim did nothing at all to the perpetrators, they just happened to be the victim of choice. The key word here is choice. Both events were driven by what is called racism.

NOTE: Humans are one, repeat ONE, race. There is no such thing as a white, black, red, yellow, green, or whatever race.

Anyone that believes in "racism" must believe that there are in fact differences that are based in the color of someone's skin. For myself, I believe everyone is equal.

People DO hate people that have different skin colors, just as they hate people of the same color as themselves but from a different country or tribe or belief system. Most of this kind of hatred is inherited. A child learns it from their parents, who learned it from theirs. The original cause is usually lost in the past, but in many instances can be traced to a dispute over land and/or resources; a "This is mine and I do not want anyone trying to move in and take it over" mentality.

The few people that I have met in my life that admitted to being 'racist' could not explain why they were other than to say something like "They deserve what they get", or "Look what them people did in the past".

But, I digress (digrid? digrode???)

- - - THE SUGGESTED BUILD PROCEDURES START HERE - - -

A good way to make the joint would be as follows:

Use the same diameter PVC for the upper and lower parts. Then, get a connecting piece that fits over the ends. Cut the top half of the connector so that you can ALMOST push the top piece straight in (like laying a hotdog into a bun). Straighten the edges flat (soak the connecter in boiling water for a few minutes to soften it.) Then drill and insert a bolt to hold it to the top piece. NOTE: Drill and insert the bolt with the joint bent to where you want, not while straight.

This will allow the lower section to swing like an arm or leg, but not go past being straight.

For our motor-driven hanging man, we just used two pieces of wood for each leg and screwed a hinge on while they were layed end-to-end on a flat surface. This is the simplest way and it achieves the desired effect.

I hope that helps.

Lynch: To execute without due process of law, especially to hang, as by a mob.

I do not see how this turned into a race thing.

Many types of people and situations have been lynched throughout world history. It sucks that it has happened to anyone.

Murder and other actions have happened way too often throughout world history and it sucks that it happens.

Halloween props generally portray things that really suck. Each prop and scene for Halloween probably will offend someone. Many haunts have people in straight jackets, this probably offends people that have family members who have mental illness.

While it is true that I would personally be offended if this was a subject of a specific type of lynch (e.g. KKK lynch prop), I think that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the initial post of this thread.

You will notice that some coward created an account (that was banned) to try to anonymously post a flaming message. Ummm…many things are logged…I can see who actually did this and will “watch”.

This did get way off-topic and therefore I will close this thread.

If you think that a post is out of line, please report them to me via private message or “report bad post” that is in the upper-right-hand corner of each message.

Everybody be nice.
