I personally don't care for the visual of someone hanging by their neck in a noose, I see absolutely no humor or good feelings associated with this in the least.
In my mind I always seem to be forced to think of the many youngsters who accidently have hung themselves, the suicide rate is high among teenagers isn't it?
I also am forced to think of all the teenagers who decided not to hang themselves a fraction of a second after they did it, thrashing around struggling, trying to reverse this one terribly bad decision.
"A perminent solution to a temporary problem"
Add to this the history of the word Lynching as associated with mistreatment of the blacks in this country, the word becomes a bristling porcupine of a memory and emotion ripper , totally an unnecesarry thing to have to happen for such a frivolous reason for just speaking or writing the word.
There have been a few persons who should have been hung by the neck until dead but most of them were and were at Nuremburg, Germany after 1945

Sorry FXmaster. My post was more of a joke than an answer. Most folks that leave a web address usually leave and are never heard of again. I've never delt in joints like the ones your after so can't be of much help. However I do have an idea. Instead of offering payment how about posting what you did and your results verses the results you need. Folks on the forum with experience are more than happy to help. Besides, if you learn to make them yourself you'll be on the way to the next set you'll need. Props are like potato chips. Can't have just one. LOL

On a personal note. I wish folks would settle down. It's just the name of a prop. FCG could have been more correctly named Hanging Crank Ghost and it would have in no way diminished the effectiveness of the prop. Nor would it turn form a well desinged piece of engineering to a statement of racism because somebody decides it atually doesn't fly, it hangs. People hang things for Halloween. They hang witches, skelletons, dummys, ghosts, monsters and anything ells they can make or buy with a neck. Why do people do this? Because they like it. It's your yard, deck it out the way you want. If you want teddy bears and happy painted face pumpkins and play Disney music go for it. If you want to take a chain saw to teddy bears, paint all the spilled fluff red and play Slayer go for it. So how would these two haunts be judged? Is the fist one a pedifile hoping to lure kids into a false state of safety and the second one a child abuser? It's just the name of a prop.

Default hanging fun

I happen to LOVE when I see a dummy hanging from a tree around Halloween.
It always gives me a laugh.
I hardly think these people are being racist or insensitive to a form of punishment that was far more widespread in Europe than it ever was in the United States.

I think it would be exciting to see a dummy thrashing about.
I'm all for it.

It's more like the two schools of Halloween decorating - Gore or non-gore.

You either like it or you don't, but that doesn't make either one wrong.

I think I said it before on this board - zombies could offend people who just buried a loved one. It can all be spun to be offensive to some person.
Death is mocked on Halloween. And it SHOULD be. Regardless of the style.
The guillotine is particularly violent, but we are insensitive to it because that form of execution is so "ancient" now.

The guillotine I have in my haunt inspired two people to write letters to the editor and one to file charges with the city attorney, they claimed it was too offensive. Fortunately the city attorney did not agree. Then I was able to respond in the paper and make my haunt a learning experience for a group of small children that were frightened of it. A very satisfying experience. Worked so well the school busses changed their routes so all the kids could come by and see or come in to the yard if they wanted.
The point here is that most things are only frightening when they are unfamiliar. With the little kids once they could touch it and play around it there was no longer any fear.
If Empress nightshade finds hanging objects offensive and chooses not to display that kind of prop thats her prerogative and I respect that. I think we all have lines we won't cross and by letting us all know how she feels about this subject the rest of us should be able to respect her beliefs.
On a personal note, I feel that if I don't offend someone every day, my day is incomplete.

Wow,
That's horrible they complained about it.
It's a Halloween staple. Well, it's the greatest compliment that it looked so real it offended those people!

Actually, it is the use of the term."LYNCHING" she does not like.
I was talking to her last night and she has no problem with the prop itself, just the name!

Understand history......the Swastika symbol has an entirely different meaning, I have a book around here somewhere, but I believe it is to mean long life in certain parts of Asia! But since the Nazi's adopted it as their symbol, that is all people think of.....and anyone here who has the nerve to display a Nazi flag on their doorstep would soon learn not to!
Same thing with lynching, because that was the term they used when a person was unlawfully hung on a branch outside of town. Alot of young African American men were unjustly killed this way!

Lynch1 (Troll Head) get over it? What? I dare you...NO! I DOUBLE DOG DARE
you...to go into a Jewish center and say," Auschwitz-Birkenau , get over it and grow up!"

I'm with you Deathtouch, Empress in the 5th. And Jack your absolutely correct that it's the term "Lynching" she is objecting to. The thing I don't understand is why when someone expresses their opinion or feelings about an issue someone else has to call them stupid and ignorant. Not everyone agrees what makes a great Haunt. Some love blood and guts, others like more atmospheric or psychological settings. All I know is that this forum is a great place to ask questions and get the help and informaion we need as Haunters. That runs the gammit from hanging cardboard skeletons on the doors and plastic ghosts in the window, to the folks who build the most elaborate pneumatic displays. Everyone is different and should be able to express the way they feel without being slammed.

Excellent use of words Gym! I agree with Gwen and Gym on this one for all the reasons they posted here. Plus I think it's a cheap attempt at a thrill scare, but that' s me personally. Although I can see how someone can argue that something always offends someone at some point the whole lynching prop thing is really in bad taste. I mean this just isn't one person offended it stretches across many individuals no matter what race.
