I don't know how long you plan to have the scene up....I will assume for this post one night. Anyway,, since they are supposed to be non toxic,,,glow sticks that are mixed to glow then cut open and poured into something else or onto something will still glow, or at least the ones I know of do. We had some kids break open one at a Skating rink I worked at and pour it on a stone wall. It glowed for quite a while,,not as brightly as it would if inside the glowstick itself, but you could see a glow for quite some time on the wall. I am unsure if it stains or not ,,,,I think I'll go now and do some experimenting with it. I'll get back with the results.
This may be something to use as part of your waste dump.
Also,,,,,go to Springfield and get some of those 3 eyed fish from the lake.

A cheap way to getting glowing water is get the brite colored hilite markes at the dollar store, open them up and soak them in water for few minutes, not too long, and yop get great glowing water. If you leave them in too long it doesnt work as well and by only soaking them a few minutes you can get several charges out of one hi-liter.
