Thanks, Ray-a-Rottin' When I was doing Ray a Rottin's Blucky modification I came up with an idea for a simple (?) animated prop. Since his modification involved installing a length of 3/4 inch PVC pipe up the spine of the skeleton, and I knew that a 3/4 inch wooden dowel rod rotates very smoothly inside the 3/4 " PVC, I thought I could make a base for a large tombstone and make a skeleton behind it that turns it's head left to right.
It got a little more involved than I envisioned, but it turned out really well. I made a wooden base for the 6 RPM gear motor/crank and a vertical plywood section to mount the skeleton behind and the tombstone in front of.
Please excuse the cheesy Walgreen's tombstone. I need more practice on making tombstones before next Halloween.
Thanks again Ray for the inspiration.

Thanks for the comments. I'll try to take some closer pics of the linkage. It is basically very easy. I don't have a how-to written up on it, but I can try to get one made up soon.

I love something that's simple and elegant, that serves it's function easily. Great job, Dave! The hands are a nice touch, too.

Wonderful use of the crank arm and a nice looking little motor. Do tell where one might acquire such a gem.
