Our city wide big trash pick up day is this weekend. Everybody in town will put out mucho junko on the curb (stuff you can't usually set out on trash day) then before the pick up everyone in town drives around to gather other peoples junk. Things I have pick up for the haunt in the past are chicken wire and foam board. What else should I be looking for? My husband will only agree to drive me around if I have a list and a six pack. So I need some ideas; I get overwhelmed and want to take it all home or see nothing that could be of use till I start prop building this summer.
ooo, I know I'm going to be doing the same thing this weekend!
I also like to look for large garden pots (for cauldrons or decor for my graveyard). Last year I was on the hunt for an old door, so I could make my scary door with UV paints and a blacklight that triggered when they rang the bell. Anything that remotely looks like a crate for a Monster in the box prop, clean PVC, maybe freshly cut Virginia Creeper to wrap around cemetary columns, milkcrates to make colums for my cemetary or a make flaming wall . . . hmmm, sounds like I should make a list, too.
Yup, ours is coming up this weekend or next....have to find that out for sure. Last year I scored a great chandelier(sp) that I of course made quick use of.

Buy em two 6 packs and tell em you'll know what you need when you see it. LOL We don't have big trash days around here. People just put the stuff out and someone eventually comes and picks it up. Behenthere, have fun on your hunt!

Gotta love Junk day. Our town has it the first of every month. I just hit the jackpot yesterday on my way home from work. An elderly gentleman was hauling trash to the curb in a wheelbarrow as I passed him I saw a pair of legs sticking out from the wheelbarrow. Well, I turnws the car around and pulled right up to the curb. Had a little conversation with the man who said he was cleaning ou the garage and to help myself. I managed to get the bottom half of a manequin and 3 fiberglass heads with long necks.
Keep your eyes open for the animated Christmas deers, they make great wolf props. We've managed to curb pick up 4 so far.
Osolating fans is another good thing to look for. Happy hunting.................

Construction sites are great too. My husband's friend is a finish carpenter and they were throwing away the casing that doors are shipped in. Which actually is thin plywood and 1" x 3"'s. So we got 14 of them last night. Saves tons of money - wood is sooooo expensive. I'm so excited to have "scouts" for my stuff!!
