Default Beyond the FCG

Anyone who has a FCG in their haunt knows how popular it is. I have had one for the last two years as part of my yard haunt and the FCG gets the most attention and favorable comments from the ToTers and their parents. It was fairly easy to build, didn’t cost that much and is something most haunters can do themselves.

That having been said – what is the next FCG? What is the next prop that will make us all say “I gota make me one of those!”

Like most of you, I go to a lot of web sites looking for new ideas. I just haven’t seen anything yet that can compare to the FCG. Pneumatics are great for a good scare, but are costly to get into and not the easiest or safest. I have made a few PVC air cylinders but was not that happy with their performance. I have since bought some “real” air cylinders and will use those this year, adding more cost to those props.

Have any of you seen anything that is of a stature equal to the FCG or is it the panicle of nonprofessional haunting? (or is it just me and my awe of the FCG?)

Any ideas?

I am also of big fan of the fcg because it is the one moving prop I have that was easy to build, cheap and looks really cool. I would love to learn more and start building pneumatics, but as far as the next "big" thing. I don't really know. I just try to build things that I've seen on line and liked and can customize to fit my preferences.

I too love the FCG! I have wanted to build one for years and finally got the courage last year. I got a lot of positive reactions, it was a hit!
However, there are so many things to be made that people will just go crazy over. I also had alot of interest in my axeworthy ghost. Much to my surprise, people really enjoyed my talking boris that simply recited Edgar Allan Poe, they would actually stand there and listen to the whole poem.(the adults that is..)

I love my FCG too !! That prop just blew me away when I first saw it, probably in Sept. '02. I figured I would make one for Halloween '03, but got so excited about it I got mine built for that same Halloween in 2002. I guess part of the reason the public likes them is because of the graceful way they move and the fact you can't miss seeing it the way the black light illuminates it.
It's hard to say what will be the next FCG. I guess it's personal preference. I like my life-size witch stirring a cauldron and opening tombstone too. Seems like coffin knockers are popular, but I haven't made one.
I'm working on a new animated prop right now that I am excited about and haven't seen built before. I think it's gonna be really cool, but probably not the next FCG.

I ran across this FCG at vilethings.com. If you want an idea, than check this out. All I can say is this guy is a real artist and his work is some of the best that I have seen. http://vilethings.com
