Default From halogen lamp to scarecrow

I was cleaning out my storage room and found an old halogen lamp hanging out down there. Turns out a pumpkin fits perfectly on the top of it, once you take out the bulbs and all that mess. I have a black cloak that I've attached to it also, using wire to form the arms.
My only dilemma is that there is about 2 - 2 1/2 feet of the base of the lamp showing.
Any ideas on how to cover/position this guy? It looks awesome and I'd really like to put it out in the backyard for our party, maybe attach some LED eyes. It stands about 6'.
The only thing I've come up with so far was to maybe put bales of hay around the bottom? thoughts?

That's an idea. Also maybe cornstalks? or tree branches?

Can you put pants on it? Put on pantleg over the base and let the other one just hang.

How about some straw and twigs attached to the base and tied off with jute twine?
