I was wondering if anyone can give me some ideas or links to locations that would have haunted soundtracks that could be played on a talking Boris. I am probably just going with the single Boris this year and maybe add one or two (next year). But I would like to have several different tracks to record and play through him. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
What about your own recording? What i do is record on PC via the mic input on the soundcard to a software recorder, then pitch shift the voices for my 2 skulls....one real low and one high like a squirrel. All you'd need is a mic (even a cheap PC mic will do) and a software recorder and a software effects program to pitch shift, both of which can be found as freeware. You could even add some reverb. Then if you want to use a tape player instead of the PC to play the voices back you'd just play the file and patch the line out on your sound card to the input of the recorder to record it to tape.
Just a though. Besides, chances of finding skull soundtracks that you like are probably slim, so why not make your own?

Yes, it sure can. I like to use a program called Audacity for all my recording/editing needs. Best thing about it is that it's completely free! http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
quoteoing the soundtrack yourself takes a lot of time. Hopefully, I'll start earlier for next yea
True, but not necassarily if you have the right software. Then again since it's so close to Halloween the learning curve of the software can take time. I hate to sound like a broken record, but once you know the tricks in cool edit's multitrack section you'd be suprised at how fast you can whip up a 1/2 hour or 45 minute soundtrack. And the advantage is you can do anything you can imagine. Going from my own soundtrack to a store bought number would be a huge downgrade ! For those who wanna try it i would say you should look into it for next year at least. I stop by from time to time during the off season and as i've said before i'd be happy to help anyone get started if they choose to try it. But it couldn't hurt in your spare time to do some googling and see what you can find as far as freeware goes and mess with it a bit. You might find that you can whip something up even now in time for this year.

Oh, and as for the CD thing, as has been said it can be done very easily. But you'll be limited to 2 tracks. By using your PC to record and playback the soundtrack with say 4 tracks, and with a 4 channel soundcard, you can run a pair of talking skulls and 2 other tracks at the same time and have them all synced up. For example, our skulls will be talking and the speaker in the gravyard will have the voice of satan who will chime in and add to the conversation. It can be pretty funny at times ! Thats also how i'm able to do songs. the graveyard speaker starts pumping out a tune and the 2 skulls will start singing. You can't do that sort of thing even with 2 CD's going at once because they won't be synced. Then theres the 4th track with a speaker on the other side of the porch thats always going with wind and rain, door creaks, cat fights and a lot of other effects.

With a multitrack soundcard, can you take, say, a CD and rip a song and then separate the tracks? For example, a song has a lead singer and the backup vocals. Is there a way to separate the lead and backup to separate tracks?
