For my talking buckies I just busted out my digital 8-track recorder and recorded voices myself. I used its onboard octave-shifting effect to get a nice deep evil voice on the left channel, and a higher more prissy voice for the other one on the right channel.

Since I know not everyone has access to recording gear, there's a piece of software available for free evaluation called GoldWave that you could use to record to your PC with a cheap mic and you can even do effects with. I believe the site is http://www.goldwave.com .

Thanks for posting that zombie ! I've been trying to get people here to try it but i wasn't sure what free software to recommend. Have you tried it and does it have multitrack capability?

No multi-track capabilities, but it is free to use. The best you can do with it is separate left and right channels, so I guess you could call that two tracks. It's pretty powerful for simple sound editing and production considering its free.

Thats still good. I know there are free multitracks out there tho. I just can't recall what they were other than pro tools, which as i said before didn't work on windows XP unfortunatly.

my computer is running XP. Time is getting short, too short to try and do some multitrack recording as I have no idea how to do it. I was hoping you might (or anyone else) have an idea of where to get some mp3 files or recordings somewhere of scary stories or short stories that might be good for talking boris to say.

If you can find it somewhere, James Earl Jones reading Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven" from the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror would be great. Just use Goldwave to remove Homer and Bart's portions. Somebody somewhere on the 'net must have an mp3 of this.

Thats an excellent idea. if he can find it i'd be willing to edit out the simpson parts for him. However, there may be a problem in that if theres a background track of audio it would sound funny with the audio cutting from one point to another. In any case, if fuzzy finds it and needs that done he can ask and i'll do it with cool edit.

thanks for the input. I was looking for something to download but I may just check out a book store for audio books and see what they might also have. Next year I will have to work on the two or more talking Boris'.
