The plastic gels pictured in the second shot look exactly like the ones that came with my halogen pool light. I'm using the red one this year to simulate a pool of blood.

BriDC1,

Tell me more about this wireless appliance controller system from Radio Shack. I'm assuming it turns on your lights by pushing a button on a remote, correct? Will it also control other devices? If so, this might be the solution I'm looking for in my haunt.

Problems may come and problems may go..but HAUNTING is forever in the soul!

It's the radio shack knock-off of X-10. They have light controls and appliance controls. The only differents is that the appliance have a grounded plug and they don't respond to the "all lights on" comand(just incase you have your coffe pot or other appliance with a heating element hooked to it).

If you go to the X-10 website you can find a variety of these home automation gadgets.

Yea, pretty much what rweso said...

They work great though! You can control up to 8 appliances/lights at once, and it's VERY simple to use. Just plug your prop into the module and plug the module into a plug outlet, and your set! Whatever number you set the module to, the remote automatically corresponds with it.

They'll control just about anything I think. We're using it to control our moving head - to turn it off when no ones around to prevent overheating.

They're inexpensive though, which is their best feature! Actually, it looks like they're on sale now.

Oh, one more thing - it's completely wireless except for the remote itself. The remote has to be plugged in, other than that though, no wires.

I had an x10 system once, never buy the cameras. ever. They are horrible. I didnt have a use at the time for the modules so I returned them. If you want the best halloween automation here is the stuff, a little pricy, bu fun to pretend you have. http://www.homeauto.com/
